Unfortunately I didn't get to attend this past Saturday's BU Aphasia group. They had a poet, Brendan Constantine, who helped the group write poetry. This morning, Jerry Kaplan sent us the homework and an audio from Mr. Constantine. His homework really made an impression on me and now I think maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to write a poem. You may remember that I posted a poem earlier in the blog but I didn't feel like that was very good. (If you'd like to read "Channeling my inner Dr Seuss" see the blog post on Feb 14.

The homework called for us to just think about the past 24 hours and just recall what I observed with my senses. Here is what I came up with:
A Great Day in Virginia
AM
Hearing the baby babbling
Seeing her smile
Putting her little shoes on
Walking with her to the daycare classroom
Saying “bye bye, Have a good day"
Feeling grateful but a little sad
PM
Getting groceries
Buying flowers
Feeling so tired from our trip
Achy shoulders, droopy eyes
Napping for what seemed like hours
Then feeling refreshed
All in all - A great day in VA!
With the homework done for the day, I hope that I am able to attend the next Saturday Group on November 6 to find out how I can make this into a real poem.
