Set my timer for 20 minutes and just write…..here is what I wrote.
No offense……
Two times yesterday someone said “no offense” in regards to my abilities. The first was when my father needed the nurse. He pressed the call button effectively, with a bit of prompting, but didn’t say anything when the nurse asked him on the intercom what he needed. Both my sister and I were in the room, but I was the one to blurt out “bathroom”. Just afterward my sister remarked “no offense but she would have understood him better”. Ouch! That hurt a bit. But if I’m honest, my speech is not always clear when I try to speak quickly. (Those of you who watch/listen to my podcast say you understand me and that I speak well. I need to remind you and myself that I prepare for these podcasts and topics and only di them on good days.
The second “no offense” occurred in the evening when I zoomed with my daughter. She was looking for an update on my father Annd asked what she could do. She is trying to visit him soon but said she could always help with phone calls during the day. “No offense mom but sineoneb without aphasia may have an easier time.” This didn’t hurt as much. Perhaps because I called her on it and she apologized. Once again I need to admit, I don’t need to be only one who makes these calls. Everybody else woykd probably be more effective. And lessee stressed than I would be,
Time is up.
Until next time….
