Just before I left work to have surgery on my right shoulder, I told a coworker that I intended to return in ten days instead of the 3-6 weeks recommended by the surgeon. The coworker told me that there is a Spanish saying, ”if you want to make God laugh, make a plan.”
Well, that is what apparently happened; that day I made God laugh.
After the surgery, I had a stroke. Not only did I not return in ten days as planned, I eventually had to leave this job that I loved and thought that I would have until retirement. God may have laughed at my ridiculous plan that day, but he had much greater plans for me.
During the past year, I have learned so much. This blog will document my experiences after the stroke giving the reader an insight of what I’ve learned about myself - the importance of patience, perseverance, humility, humor, believing in oneself and figuring out what is most important. That after a stroke, I am still Cheryl!
