Why is self care important when you have aphasia or apraxia of speech?
Self care is important for each of us. I believe it is very important for those of us with deal with the challenges of communication issues, such as aphasia, apraxia or dysarthria. When we can no longer speak in the same way we did before the stroke or trauma that caused this disorder, many of us experience depression and anxiety. Deep breathing helps a lot. And making self care a part of our routines helps reduce the depression and anxiety. By focusing on ourselves we show that we are important to ourselves.
So, what am I going to do for me today? We have a fairly full day. Cleaning the kitchen to prepare for having my father and sister over for dinner tomorrow. running some errands. Then going to a cousins to help with a project. Coming home fairly late in the afternoon. When we get home, making dinner - scallops puttanesca.
then for me, making a nice cosmo and watching the end of a movie, The Menu, with my husband.
until next time……
Wow, that sounds like a jam-packed day filled with important tasks and self care activities! I'm glad to hear that you're making self care a priority, especially with your communication challenges. I'm also excited to hear that you're treating yourself to a cosmo and a movie night with your husband. Speaking of, "The Menu," I just watched it and was blown away by the plot twists and unexpected turns. It's definitely one that will keep you on the edge of your seat! I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did. Happy self care!
Sounds like a plan, Cheryl. I had to look up cosmo to find out what it was. It's been awhile since I had a cocktail. Enjoy your day.
Self care is crucial to the mental well being of a person. Positive self-talk is also an essential part of self care. Sounds like you have a busy day... enjoy the end part of it. A Cosmo sounds yummy!
That sounds like a perfect ending after cleaning relaxing with hubby and a movie.
